Why We Were Established
It began when families needed support that wasn’t there.
Our trustees were already helping relatives and neighbours whose needs were not being met clearly or consistently. Conversations within the community often led to practical action. DLA forms were completed, short grants were secured, Universal Credit applications were reviewed, and social care processes were explained step by step. Hospital transport was arranged when systems felt inaccessible or overwhelming.
Among those early experiences was David, now our Triage Coordinator and a member of the Steering Committee. When his daughter Deborah was born with complex medical needs, his family was discharged from hospital without a clear care plan. The practical reality was relentless: suctioning every half hour, tube feeding, medication through the night, all while caring for another child. Support was limited and difficult to access. Private night care was unaffordable, and the strain on mental health and family life was significant.
After Deborah passed away, David chose to channel that experience into ensuring other carers are not left navigating systems alone. His lived experience has shaped how We Care London approaches triage, responsiveness, and governance.
Over time, it became clear that carers were navigating complex pathways without timely support. The issue was not a lack of commitment. It was the absence of accessible, coordinated assistance at the right moment.
We Care London was established to provide structure and reliability
while remaining close to everyday realities.
Cultural Understanding
Much of our work takes place within the Charedi community and other local minority groups whose needs are not always fully addressed by mainstream services. Understanding context is essential. Family structure, language, religious rhythms, and community expectations influence how support is accessed and experienced.
Effective assistance recognises these realities rather than overlooking them.

How We Operate
We Care London is a boutique-style carers’ charity, designed to remain accessible and responsive to the people we support. Our approach prioritises proximity over scale. We work in ways that allow us to understand context, respond without unnecessary delay, and operate with appropriate governance and oversight.
We aim to remain effective rather than expansive. Support works best when it stays grounded in real circumstances.
As a registered charity, we operate with clear governance, safeguarding procedures, financial oversight, and transparent reporting.
David’s involvement, alongside other carers on our Steering Committee, has strengthened our governance framework and ensured that lived experience informs how decisions are made.
Structure ensures sustainability. Accountability ensures trust.
